Here's a little bit more about us:
We live in the country in Hugo, MN, a northeastern suburb of the Twin Cities. We only breed a few litters a year and most of our puppies are placed as companions. However, it is important to us that even dogs not destined for the show ring are as healthy and structurally sound as possible.
Since we do not work outside the home, our new puppies are never left home alone for at least four weeks. Any time we are not physically in the same room with them, we carry a baby monitor so we can come running if there is a problem. Also, since we are here, we have the time to spend working with each puppy to get them started off on the right foot.
Our dogs are our family - they cuddle with us on the furniture and play in our fenced yard. They are only crated for sleeping, traveling, at shows, or for necessary time outs. They are pets first, and AKC show dogs second. We will only breed quality, fully health tested (BAER, OFA Hips, OFA Elbows, OFA Patella, CERF, Cardiac, and other health tests, as appropriate), championship lines that can produce healthy and loving puppies. All puppies that are not considered show quality will be placed as pets to qualified loving home to be spayed/neutered by 8 months of age. This not only prevents accidental breeding, but makes for a happier and healthier pet.
In addition to health testing, we feel it is very important for any breeder to stay informed through continuing education. While having a good, hands-on mentor can really help a beginner to get started correctly, nothing can take the place of ongoing learning from experts in the medical and breeding arena.
Before she began our breeding program, Jeanne attended several seminars, including multi-day sessions led by AKC Breeders/Judges Pat Trotter and Pat Hastings, author Myra Savant, RN, and the AKC/CHF Breeders Symposium, featuring Dr. Claudia Orlandi, PhD. Jeanne is a member of Havanese Club of America (HCA), and also served as Co-Chair of the Breeder's Education Committee in 2006-2007.
If you have any questions you would like to ask, please feel free to drop us an email. We are committed to all the puppies we raise for their whole lives, and feel responsible for being sure they continue to thrive. After all,
OUR DOGS ARE OUR FAMILY!!
